I've always wondered this: "Is there such thing as a talented designer? Or is good design a skill? Or maybe to be a great designer, you need a combination of talent, skill, and experience." Well, I guess it would depend on your definition of what talent and skill is. I looked in the Merriam-Webster dictionary and this is how it defines the two words.
Read more...I just ran across this awesome project by Felix Niklas and it blew my mind. it's an HTML5 app for creating CSS3 in an intuitive way. The interface is very similar to Photoshop and functions just like it as well. I wrote a little preview/breakdown/review of it.
Read more...So I had a little fun last night and decided to experiment with some CSS3 buttons. I created eight different buttons so far. No images were used at all. I went wild with gradients and rounded corners.
Read more...TechCrunch, the group-edited blog about technology start-ups, launched their redesign today. It's quite different from the previous design and it's already drawing a lot of criticism and hate. They redesigned everything, including the logo which is causing quite a stir right now.

As a single use case experiment, I decided to design and code a Web page and add visual enhancements twice: once with CSS3, and a second time using background images sliced directly from the PSD.
