CSS3 makes a designer's work easier because they're able to spend less time hacking their CSS and HTML code to work in IE and more time crafting their design. It is the future of web design and can be used today.

Read more...Design is everywhere. We see it in on billboards as we drive down the street. When we go to a restaurant and look at the menus, we see it. When we sit down on our couch and watch television, it's visible on the commercials, advertisements, and even the movies and TV shows.
It is all around us and it stimulates and motivates much of our decisions subconsciously every day. The encyclopedia refers to graphic design as, “the process of communicating visually using text and images to present information. Graphic design practice embraces a range of cognitive skills, aesthetics and crafts, including typography, visual arts and page layout. Like other forms of design, graphic design often refers to both the process (designing) by which the communication is created and the products (designs) which are generated.”

I figured that this would be a great idea to post on Design Informer. I quickly got to work and started researching. Come to find out that there were some great sites that have already collected hundreds of movie title stills.
Read more...I have been an avid follower of blogs such as Smashing Magazine and Web Designer Depot for a long time. A little over 3 months ago, I decided that it was time that I also gave back to the design community, hence, Design Informer was born. The blog officially opened on October 31st, 2009. During the first week, the blog didn't really get a lot of visitors. Once in a while someone would drop in and leave a comment and retweet the articles but for the most part, the blog was pretty much void of any response.

Read more...The past couple of weeks, the media has been in a frenzy. When news that Conan O'Brien was getting the boot from NBC, there suddenly was an uproar. Everyone was defending Conan, including designers. Last week, my Twitter stream was filled with "Save Coco" or "We Love Conan." Personally, I never really watched him and I don't really feel sorry for him (he's making millions from this), but because of all the hoopla surrounding this debacle, I decided to look around and see what designers have done. Usually, if there's something big in the news, you can be sure that designers have already fired up Photoshop or have taken their pens and papers and have already started designing and creating something dealing with the issue.

Read more...On January 13, 2010, the world was shocked to hear the news about the devastation that took place in Haiti. An earthquake with the magnitude of 7.0 hit the country hard. A few days later, we were informed of the hundreds of thousands of people that were killed due to this horrific event. When the people around the world heard of this tragedy, lots of them immediately took action. Millions of dollars have been raised thus far to help out the Haitians.
While I was reading Twitter on that day, it seemed like many designers got involved as well. Hundreds of tweets filled my stream saying tht they have donated money to the cause of reviving and salvaging what's left of Haiti. Today, I just want to showcase some of the designs that were created by designers who got involved and wanted to spread the word about helping the country of Haiti. Also, many designers have decided to blog about it and to donate proceeds from their work to help out those suffering in Haiti.
